Written off at the peril of his rivals, Felipe Drugovich showed that his second season blip was just that, fighting back in dominant fashion to secure the 2022 Formula 2 Drivers' Title in his third year in the Championship.
Starting his single seater career in ADAC F4 back in 2016, Drugovich improved from his P13 rookie campaign to fourth the following year. In 2018 he went even better in Euroformula Open, winning the title at the first time of asking.
Graduating to F3 in 2019, he was one-and-done in the Championship, joining MP Motorsport in Formula 2 for 2020, the team that would become his home. A follow up season with Virtuosi Racing didn't go according to plan, but a return to MP for '22 brought the biggest reward with it.
The Brazilian’s form was irresistible throughout his title-winning season, achieving a Sprint/Feature sweep in Barcelona to stamp his authority on the season and he never looked back from there.
With five wins across the season and a further four podiums and pole positions, Drugovich was head and shoulders clear of the pack in 2022. Making consistency the backbone of his campaign, he has only failed to score points on four occasions and secured double-points finishes at nine of the 13 rounds so far. He will now take up a reserve driver role with Aston Martin in Formula 1, becoming the team's first signing to its young driver programme.
