After a hard-fought campaign, Gabriel Bortoleto wrote his name into the history books, becoming FIA Formula 2 Champion of 2024, going back-to-back after winning the F3 crown in 2023.
The Invicta Racing driver made an assured rise through the pack after a tough start to the campaign, adding numerous points finishes and podiums to his record. His second win was perhaps his best, as he rebounded from an error in Monza Qualifying to become the first driver in Formula 2 history to start from last on the grid and go on to win the Feature Race.
After Isack Hadjar had led the field for the middle phase of the campaign, trademark consistency from Bortoleto meant he overhauled his rival with two rounds to go, and he held onto the points lead through the Lusail and Yas Marina rounds to be crowned Champion, helping Invicta Racing to sweep both titles also.
