Following the conclusion of the FIA Formula 2 Feature Race in Lusail, two drivers have been handed post-race penalties.

Firstly, DAMS Lucas Oil driver Jak Crawford has been handed a time penalty.

The DAMS made contact with Car 15, Van Amersfoort Racing’s Rafael Villagómez at Turn 6, resulting in the Mexican driver retiring from the race.

After the Feature event, the Stewards examined video evidence and heard from both drivers along with the team representatives. They determined that Crawford was the driver wholly at fault for the collision.

As a result, they elected to hand the DAMS driver a 10-second time penalty, though with the American failing to finish the Feature Race, that penalty has been converted into a five-place grid penalty.

Crawford will serve the penalty at the next race in which he competes.

Finally, MP Motorsport’s Richard Verschoor has been handed a time penalty.

The Dutch driver was found to have illegally unlapped himself without the Race Director’s authorisation.

The Stewards heard from the driver and team representative along with examining GPS and video evidence and determined that the team had incorrectly instructed the driver to unlap himself.

As a result, the Stewards elected to hand him a 10-second stop and go penalty that is converted into a 30-second penalty.

It moves the Dutch driver down to P17 in the final classification.
