Following the conclusion of Friday’s Montreal Qualifying session, several drivers have been penalised.
Firstly, Rafael Câmara has been handed a three-place grid penalty for impeding.
The Invicta Racing driver was alleged to have impeded Car 17, Alexander Dunne during the session.
Following a post session hearing and having heard from both drivers and their team representatives along with examining available video evidence, the Stewards determined that Car 1 had unnecessarily impeded Car 15.
As a result, they elected to hand Câmara a three-place grid penalty for both the Sprint and Feature Race, as per Article 31.6 of the Formula 2 Sporting Regulations.
Secondly, Alexander Dunne has also been handed a three-place grid penalty for impeding.
The Rodin Motorsport driver was alleged to have impeded Car 23, Rafael Villagómez during the session.
Following a post Qualifying hearing and having heard from both drivers and their team representatives along with examining available video evidence, the Stewards determined that Car 15 had unnecessarily impeded Car 23.
As a result, they elected to hand Dunne a three-place grid penalty for both the Sprint and Feature Race, as per Article 31.6 of the Formula 2 Sporting Regulations.
Oliver Goethe has had his fastest time deleted from Qualifying.
The driver of Car 10 hit the barrier at Turn 4 and stopped, causing a Red Flag. As the sole cause of the stoppage, Goethe breached Article 33.5 of the FIA Formula 2 Sporting Regulations. The Stewards heard from both the driver and a MP Motorsport team representative following the session and also examined available video evidence.
They determined that Goethe was the sole cause of the Red Flag, leading to the session being stopped, causing several drivers to abandon their push laps. As a result of there being no external contributing factors, Goethe has had his fastest lap time deleted.
This drops him from P19 to P21 in the final classification.
Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak has also had his fastest time deleted.
The driver of Car 17 hit the barrier at Turn 4, causing a Red Flag. As the sole cause, Inthraphuvasak also breached Article 33.5 of the FIA Formula 2 Sporting Regulations.
The Stewards examined video evidence and spoke to both the driver and a team representative. It was determined that Inthraphuvasak was the sole cause of the Red Flag, causing the session to stop and forcing several drivers to abandon their push laps.
As a result of there being no outside contributing factors, the Thai driver has had his fastest time deleted. This drops him from P15 to 20 in the final classification.
