Following the conclusion of the FIA Formula 2 Feature Race in Spielberg, Rodin Motorsport’s Martinius Stenshorne has been handed a time penalty.
The Stewards investigated Stenshorne for being in breach Article 38.9b of the FIA Formula 2 Sporting Regulations, which is related to serving a mandatory pitstop under the Virtual Safety Car.
They spoke with both the driver and a team representative, examined video evidence and GPS data before determining that while Stenshorne had already committed to the pit entry he had not reached the dotted line that defined the pit entry when the VSC was displayed.
This led to him serving his pitstop under Virtual Safety Car conditions, and as a result the Stewards determined that Car 14 had not served its mandatory penalty.
A stop and go penalty has therefore been given to Stenshorne, and when assessed post-race in accordance with Article 39.3 of the Sporting Regulations, that is converted into a 30-second time penalty.
This means that Stenshorne, who finished sixth on track, moves down to 19th in the final classification.
