DAMS’ Roy Nissany will make his first FP1 appearance of the season for Williams at the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend.

The 26-year-old will replace George Russell in the session, making his fourth free practice appearance for the British team since joining their academy programme as a reserve driver last year.

“I’m very keen to get back in the car,” said Nissany. “Barcelona was my first FP1 session last year and we have made a lot of progress since then, so I’m looking forward to demonstrating that on track.

“It feels great to experience the steps of development each time I jump in the car.”

Nissany has previously contested three free practice session for the team, making his debut at the 2020 Spanish Grand Prix, before going on to also run in the Italian and Bahrain Grand Prix.

Head of Vehicle Performance Dave Robson added: “Roy Nissany will drive George’s car during FP1 this weekend and will complete some of our test work during that session.

“Roy has done a very good job each time he has driven the car and we are looking forward to getting his input this weekend.”
