Richard Verschoor took the chequered flag in Sunday’s Budapest Feature Race in fifth place, although the MP Motorsport driver was slightly disappointed to miss out on a podium.
The Hungaroring weekend got off to a difficult start for the Dutchman, as he followed up his P9 in Free Practice with a P11 results in Qualifying.
Verschoor narrowly missed out on a place in the top 10 by 0.056s to Campos Racing’s Josep María Martí, leaving him with an uphill task to get into the points.

However, the 24-year-old fought through in the Sprint Race to finish sixth and followed that up with a run to fifth in Sunday’s longer event.
While happy with the results, Verschoor felt a podium place was possible if not for a fight with Martí and Gabriele Minì in the opening stint of the race, which he felt cost both of them time.
“It was interesting,” said Verschoor as he reflected on the race. “I think we have been lucky that there was a VSC and a Safety Car for sure. On the other hand, our pace was mega today.
“I am a bit disappointed with Martí because I lost so much time because of him. He was trying to defend a lot, which didn’t make sense, and then we were both stuck behind Minì later.

“So we both lost a lot of time there, which I think was a shame, because I would definitely would have been fighting for the podium if not for that.
“But so far we are feeling strong, happy with 10 points today, now a small holiday and then we are back.”
Verschoor goes into the summer break third in the Drivers' Championship with 135 points, trailing leader Leonardo Fornaroli – who won the Feature Race – by 19 points going into Round 11 at Monza.
For Verschoor, the next few weeks will include a lot of work with partners and in the simulator as he looks to get back to winning ways around a track where he very much enjoys driving.

“I’m very excited,” previewed Verschoor. “Monza is always a track that I really like, it’s a high-speed track, high-speed in terms of top speed, but some nice chicanes.
“The races are always exciting, and I am really excited for that.”
