Campos Racing have signed Formula 3 race-winner Olli Caldwell for the 2022 campaign, with the British racer also joining the Alpine Academy.

The 19-year-old completes Campos’ line-up for the new season, linking up with Ralph Boschung at the Spanish side.

Caldwell spent the 2021 campaign with PREMA Racing in F3, where he finished eighth with four podiums, including one win. He then made his Formula 2 debut in the final two rounds of the season with Campos, scoring a best finish of 12th in Sprint Race 2 at Jeddah.

The British racer remained with the team for post-season testing and impressed sufficiently to earn a full-time deal for 2022 and a spot in the Alpine driver programme.

“I’m very excited to be joining Campos Racing," said Caldwell. "Especially after finishing the last two rounds and the post-season test with them. I get on really well with the team and especially with Ralph (Boschung).

"The car is looking very strong and I think we can definitely achieve some very good results this year.”

After a season in the Ginetta Junior Championship, Caldwell made the step into single-seaters in 2017, competing on two fronts in British and Italian Formula 4. He remained in Italian F4 for a second season and finished third with PREMA.

Caldwell then made the move to Formula Regional European for 2019 and placed fifth in his rookie year, before the jump to F3. Spending his first season with Trident, Caldwell scored points on four occasions.

Campos Racing Sporting Director Adrián Campos added: "Despite the short time that we have been working together, the sensations cannot be better. Olli has adapted very well to the team and to the car and we are sure that a very good year awaits us.

"Olli has the instinct, perseverance and intelligence to continue growing as a driver and at Campos Racing we are going to give him all the tools to do so."
