Estonian driver Jüri Vips has been disqualified from today’s Formula 2 qualifying results after his Hitech Grand Prix car was found in breach of the Technical Regulations.

The Stewards determined that the undertray fins of car #8 were not in compliance with Article 4.3.13 of the 2021 FIA F2 Technical Regulations.

Even after the 5mm tolerance allowed in the Article was applied, the fins still extended 1.5mm below the reference plane, rather than being no lower than the reference plane as required by the Article.

As a consequence, all of Vips’ times set during the qualifying session have been removed. The Red Bull junior, who had originally qualified in P5, will be allowed to start Saturday’s Sprint Race 1 and Sunday’s Feature Race from the back of the grid.

This promotes ART Grand Prix’s Théo Pourchaire to reverse pole in tomorrow’s first Sprint Race.
