Cordeel loses fastest laptime after Silverstone Qualifying session

Following the conclusion of Qualifying for Round 8 in Silverstone, Rodin Motorsport driver Amaury Cordeel has been penalised.
Car 16 spun at the entry of Turn 18, causing a Red Flag. As the sole cause of the stoppage, Cordeel breached Article 33.5 of the FIA Formula 2 Sporting Regulations.
The Stewards heard from both the driver and team representative following the session and examined available video evidence.
They determined that Cordeel was the sole cause of the Red Flag, causing the session to be stopped and several drivers to abandon their attempts at improving in the session.
As a result of there being no external contributing factors, Cordeel has had his fastest lap time deleted.
It means Cordeel, who had been 17th, drops out of the final Qualifying classification. It promotes John Bennett, Oliver Goethe, Josep María Martí and Cian Shields up one position each.
As a result, Cordeel was unable to set a representative time during today’s Qualifying session within the 107% cut-off. However, he has been given permission to start both races by the Stewards.
