The McLaren Formula 1 Team have today confirmed that Alexander Dunne will be driving for them in the opening session of this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix.

The Irishman’s runout at Monza will be his second Free Practice outing of the season after he took part in FP1 at Spielberg back in June – finishing fourth in what was his F1 weekend debut.

Speaking following the announcement, Dunne expressed his delight at the opportunity to be able to jump back into the MCL39 for another 60-minute outing.

“I’m super excited to be back for my second FP1 with McLaren at Monza this weekend,” said Dunne. “My first one in Austria was an extremely special for one for me, but to do it again at Monza, a track that is so historic and prestigious is going to put a big smile on my face.

“So really looking forward to it. Hopefully I can build and improve on what was a strong outing in Austria and help Lando and Oscar as much as possible going into that weekend.”

Dunne is currently fifth in the Drivers' Championship, trailing Leonardo Fornaroli by 30 points heading into Round 11.
