Arvid Lindblad: My Ultimate Driver

Campos Racing’s Arvid Lindblad took on another challenge recently when we tasked him with building the ultimate racing driver.

The Red Bull Junior picked out a good bunch, from multiple world champions to current title protagonists.

INTELLIGENCE

“Fernando Alonso. He's obviously very experienced. I think he is quite street smart and good at managing things.

“Outside of F1, I would say Oliver Rowland. I know him very well, I work with him, he is very intelligent at managing things in the race with the deg, the battery, he is really good at the stuff. He is one of the best I've seen.”

DRIVING IN THE WET

“Ayrton Senna. I don't think anybody can disregard his talent. He is known as one of the greats, if not the greatest racing driver. The one that comes to mind was his win in Estoril in 1985 in Lotus, his first Formula 1 win, in torrential rain.

"In Monaco as well, he has had many incredible drives. Being Brazilian, they are normally very good in the wet and maybe he is one of the reasons why."

QUALIFYING

“Charles Leclerc. I just think he is unbelievable over one lap, with his ability to put the car on the limit. A lot of people say he makes mistakes and that kind of things, which maybe he does, but just the ability to be on the limit, taking risks, when you watch his pole laps it's unbelievable.

“Pure speed in Qualifying, I'd always choose him!”

CORNERING

“I'd go Lewis Hamilton. He is a seven-time world champion, so he is clearly doing something right.”

TYRE MANAGEMENT

“I want to say Carlos Sainz. His race management in general is always very good, so I think I will him pick for this.”

BRAVEST

“Max Verstappen. He sends it, full risk. He is just a pure racer, if he sees the gap, he sends it and nine times out of 10 he makes it happen.”

SMOOTHEST

"The two McLaren drivers are both very, very smooth. But I think Oscar Piastri might be slightly smoother than Lando Norris, so I'll go with him, just!”

BEST OVERTAKER

“Max. What's so impressive about him is he creates an opportunity. Lots of times people will wait for something to happen and they will capitalise on it. He is really one guy that he will make a move that you didn't see coming, he will make the opportunity happen.”

WOULD YOU ADD ANYTHING ELSE?

“I would add defending. Again, I would say Max. He has no weaknesses that's what makes him so impressive.”
