Second overall in the Teams’ Championship is the best result for Hitech TGR in FIA Formula 2. The Silverstone-based outfit secured an impressive 13 podium results across the year, including a 1-2 finish in the Baku Sprint Race.
However, it wasn’t meant to be for Luke Browning nor Dino Beganovic, finishing the year fourth and seventh respectively in the Drivers’ Championship.
Reflecting on their best-ever year in F2, Team Manager Clive Hatton was pleased to have achieved the feat. But he underlined that had things gone more in their favour, bigger things might have been possible.
“It’s definitely been our strongest year in F2,” he assessed. “Coming in second is nice and it was quite close the whole way through the year, but hopefully we can carry that momentum into 2026 as well.
“It’s one of those things. We had two strong weekends in Monza and Baku, and it got close. It’s in the back of everyone’s minds but you still need to focus on the weekends ahead. A lot of things can happen, but you just take it as it comes.”
Browning ended up the highest-placed driver for the team, winding up fourth in the Standings after a title bid that faltered near the end of the season.
The Hitech Team Manager underlined that it was not through a lack of pace or dedication, but rather a mix of misfortune that hindered his title bid.
2025 also marked the end of the Williams Racing Development Driver’s association with Hitech, having graduated up the junior categories racing with the team.
Hatton paid tribute to Browning’s efforts and added that they will be watching what he does next very closely.
“It’s been a long journey with him. I’m sure he’s learned a lot with us! It’s been great to work with him and having him part of Hitech and we’re all excited to see how he gets on with his future career.
“But anything can happen. A Safety Car at the wrong time for example and your weekend is flipped.”
Looking ahead to 2026, the British team will have an all-new line-up with Ritomo Miyata partnering Colton Herta in Hitech TGR colours next year.
Hatton says that the team is optimistic that they can build on what they achieved this season with their new drivers, with Miyata bringing experience and Herta re-adapting to European racing following a brief stint before his racing career in America.
“We’re excited to start working with them both. Ritomo has done two seasons already, so he’ll bring a good bit of experience, and we’re excited to see how he goes in our car.
“Colton – a lot will be new to him. It’s been a while since he’s raced in Europe and outside of American tracks but I’m sure he’ll get the hang of it pretty quick, and we’re excited to see how he’ll get on.”
