Following the conclusion of FIA Formula 2 Qualifying in Lusail, Oliver Goethe has been handed a grid penalty.

The MP Motorsport driver was alleged to have impeded the Rodin Motorsport Car 16 of Martinius Stenshorne at Turn 6.

Following the session, the Stewards heard from both drivers and their respective team representatives, along with examining available video evidence.

They determined that Car 5 had unnecessarily impeded Car 16 whilst on a cool down lap and could have done more to avoid the incident.

As a result, they applied a three-place grid penalty to Goethe. The MP driver will serve the penalty in both the Sprint and Feature Races at Round 13.

His penalty promotes Leonardo Fornaroli up into pole position for Sunday’s race.
