Pirelli has extended its partnership with Formula 1 as the Global Tyre Partner and, as part of the deal, will remain as exclusive supplier to the Formula 2 and 3 Championships through to 2027, with an option to extend the deal for a further year.

The Italian manufacturer has provided tyres to both F2 and F3 since the Championship’s inaugural seasons in 2017 and 2019 respectively. The extension of the deal reaffirms Pirelli’s commitment to support the next generation of motorsport talent.

During the partnership, Pirelli has been the sole tyre supplier for both Championships and delivered the new 18-inch tyres in 2020 for Formula 2.

Pirelli Motorsport Director Mario Isola said that the continuation of the partnership was an exciting prospect.

“We are delighted to be able to continue supplying the FIA Formula 2 and Formula 3 championships until at least 2027. Pirelli has been present since the birth of these two championships and has pioneered several innovations in these series that have later been adopted in Formula 1. One of our missions is to support young talents by giving them tyres that help them learn how to approach different situations and conditions. Contributing to the success of these feeder series is fundamental to support young drivers who graduate to the top: a commitment at the very heart of Pirelli’s philosophy. And this is yet another reason for us to look forward to continuing our journey together.”

Formula 2 and 3 CEO Bruno Michel added that the recommitment of Pirelli would help maintain an exciting Championship in both F2 and F3 for seasons to come.

“I’m delighted to confirm that F2 and F3 will keep on racing on Pirelli tyres – the same tyre partner as Formula 1. Together, we’ve enjoyed a very successful collaboration since the beginning. It is key that we work hand in hand with a tyre supplier whose knowhow and dedication will help young drivers’ development on their way to the top of motorsport. Also, tyres are a crucial component in making F2 and F3 an incredible show for the fans, which is something Pirelli has helped us with throughout the seasons.”
