Following the conclusion of the FIA Formula 2 Feature Race in Montreal, two drivers have been handed penalties.

Firstly, Nikola Tsolov has been awarded a 10-second time penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage.

The Campos Racing driver was fighting Car 10 of Oliver Goethe into Turns 13 and 14, with Tsolov cutting the track and retaining the position as a result.

The Stewards examined video and GPS evidence and determined Car 6 of Tsolov had defended against Car 10, but left the circuit and retained the position, constituting an advantage gained.

As a result of his penalty being applied, Tsolov falls from fourth in the classification to 12th position.

Finally, Ritomo Miyata has been handed a five-second time penalty for causing a collision. The Hitech driver made contact with MP Motorsport’s Oliver Goethe in the closing laps of the Feature Race.

The Stewards analysed the incident, reviewing video evidence and heard from both drivers along with team representatives, and determined that Goethe had established rights to Turn 11, with Miyata the driver predominantly to blame for the incident.

They also determined that both drivers had contributed to the incident in determining the penalty.

With his penalty applied, Miyata remains P16 in the Feature Race classification.
