Following today’s FIA Formula 2 Championship Sprint Race at Spielberg, Austria, it was determined that Sean Gelael had caused an avoidable incident with Louis Deletraz at Turn 4 of the Red Bull Ring. Deletraz was found to be slightly ahead before being forced off the road by Gelael on the outside of the corner, before losing control of his car and making contact with the Indonesian driver. Both drivers retired as a result with damage.
As a consequence, Gelael has been handed a three-place grid penalty for causing the contact with Deletraz, to be applied to his qualifying result for the Feature Race at Silverstone. He will also have two penalty points added to his license.
