2019 Round 2 post-Sprint Race penalties

Today’s FIA Formula 2 Sprint Race at the Baku City Circuit was unfortunately a short one for Tatiana Calderon: the BWT Arden driver was involved in a Turn 1 incident on the opening lap following contact between her, Ralph Boschung and Louis Delétraz. It was later found that Calderon had made an overly ambitious move on the Trident driver, not on the racing line, and was unable to make the corner which caused the collision with Delétraz a collateral victim.
As a consequence, all three drivers involved had to retire early from the race. The Stewards have thus issued Calderon a drop of 3 grid places for Barcelona Feature Race which will take place in two weeks time.
Mahaveer Raghunathan has also been penalised after the end of today’s Race after it was found that the MP Motorsport’s driver had passed Guanyu Zhou before the control line at a Safety Car restart. Therefore, five seconds have been added to the total race time of Raghunathan who had classified last.
