Boya and Duerksen handed post Montreal Sprint Race penalties

Following the conclusion of the FIA Formula 2 Sprint Race in Montreal, two drivers have received post-race penalties.

Firstly, Mari Boya has been given a 10-second time penalty for driving unnecessarily slowly approaching the detection zone triggering a collision between three cars.

The Stewards examined the available data and spoke to both the driver and a PREMA Racing team representative and found that the driver of Car 12 had driven unnecessarily slowly at the exit of Turn 10.

Nico Varrone, in Car 22, then checked up, but Cian Shields in Car 21 did not have sufficient time to stop, leading him to have nose to tail contact with Varrone, who then collided with Sebastián Montoya.

As a result, the Stewards gave Boya a 10-second time penalty. He remains 15th in the final classification.

Finally, Joshua Duerksen has been handed a three-place grid drop following the Montreal Sprint Race.

The Invicta Racing driver was assigned a five-second time penalty for causing a collision at the start of the race. However, the Paraguayan retired from the Sprint prior to serving the penalty.

As a result, the Stewards applied a three-place grid drop. Duerksen is set to serve the penalty at the next race in which he competes.
