F2 continues interactive press conference streams

After a successful trial run following the FIA Formula 2 races in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, the official F2 post-race press conferences will continue to be streamed live on the FIA F2 Facebook page, where fans will have the opportunity to put their own questions to the top three drivers in both the Feature and Sprint Race.

As well as adding an extra element of fan interaction with the series, the reaction among the current F2 drivers has been encouragingly positive, and have praised the new initiative.

George Russell, ART Grand Prix: "I really like the idea of the live stream F2 press conference. It gives the chances for the fans to see the real emotions of the drivers directly after the race which they often couldn't experience previously"

“Receiving the questions from the fans is also cool because we’re used to answering questions from the media, but those questions may not be the ones the fans would have asked. Now it gives the opportunity to the fans to ask whatever they want and potentially learn more about us as drivers"

Lando Norris, Carlin: “I think it’s a really interesting concept to stream the F2 press conferences live on Facebook and an idea that once again is another great way to involve fans in the sport. Anything that allows fans and even casual viewers more access to the Championship is a fantastic idea. It’s always great to interact with as many people as possible over a race weekend and having the opportunity to do so in the post-race press conferences, and answer a variety of different questions, is a nice idea. I really enjoyed it on Sunday and hope to be back there soon answering more questions!”

Sergio Sette Camara, Carlin: “I think it’s very positive for our sport; a great initiative and a very creative idea. The questions we receive from specialist journalists at events are always very interesting so it’s great that fans are able to hear these in the conference. But the sport also exists because of and for the fans – they watch us each weekend so it’s cool to be able to answer their curiosities directly after the race. Motorsport sometimes isn’t as easy as other sports to understand because of so many variables which can make it a little complex and I would hate for someone to watch me race without really knowing what was going on so it is a pleasure to be able to answer these questions from the fans and give them a better understanding of our sport.”

Nyck de Vries, PERTAMINA PREMA Theodore Racing: “I think it is a great idea to interact with the fans and show them something behind the scenes. Besides, it’s a nice opportunity them to informally ask questions to the drivers they normally would not be able to ask.

“Fans - please be creative! We like to get different kind of questions than the obvious.”

Alexander Albon, DAMS: “It’s a really good idea! Obviously we interact with the fans a bit better with it, and I think it’s something we miss out on now in F2 because people don’t really know our thoughts after the races - unless you read the media outlets after the race, you don’t have an idea of what we have to say. I think it’s really interesting, and it’s very important that we get questions from the fans. We haven’t had it before, and it’s something where you involve the fans with the drivers; it’s good for us as well, no disrespect to the people who ask the questions, but it’s usually the same answers - so it’s nice to get a different outlook on the racing!”
