Jack Doohan confirmed as Alpine F1 Team Reserve Driver

Alpine F1 Team has confirmed that Jack Doohan will become the team’s Reserve Driver for the 2023 Formula 1 season. The Australian, part of the team’s driver academy, will be competing in his second FIA Formula 2 campaign this season with Virtuosi Racing alongside fulfilling his reserve driver duties.
In 2022, Doohan finished his rookie season sixth in the Drivers’ Championship, taking three poles, five podiums and two race victories.
The Australian joined the French outfit’s Academy ahead of the 2022 season. Since then, he has taken part in several tests with the team. After taking part in Free Practice sessions during the Mexico City and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekends, he drove during post-season testing with the team after the conclusion of the ’22 campaign.
"I'm ery pleased to announce I'll be the Reserve Driver in 2023 for the Alpine F1 Team," Doohan said. "I'm very grateful for this opportunity to work closely with the team and to provide my support throughout the year and also learn as much as possible for the future. I can't wait to get started very soon and I'm looking forward to the year ahead."
This week, the 20-year-old completed pre-season testing in Sakhir, Bahrain with Virtuosi. He totalled 190 laps across the three days and finished up with the sixth-fastest time, achieved on Day 2 of the test.
