Kush Maini handed grid penalty for Madrid Feature Race

Kush Maini has been penalised for his part in the incident with Nico Varrone during the Madrid Sprint Race

Following the conclusion of Saturday's FIA Formula 2 Sprint Race in Madrid, Kush Maini has received a penalty.

During the Sprint, the ART Grand Prix driver made contact with Van Amersfoort Racing’s Nico Varrone at Turn 8.

After the race, the Stewards heard from both drivers and their team representatives and examined video evidence, onboard footage and GPS data. They determined that Car 16 was wholly to blame for the collision.

Maini therefore has been awarded a 10-second time penalty, which is converted into a grid drop of five positions in accordance with Article 39.3(b) of the FIA Formula 2 Sporting Regulations.

Maini is set to start from the back of the grid in Sunday’s Feature Race.
