Nico Varrone penalised after Barcelona Sprint Race

Following the conclusion of the FIA Formula 2 Sprint Race in Barcelona, Nico Varrone has been given a post-race penalty.
During the race, Car 22 was alleged to have left the track and gained an advantage following a battle with Sebastián Montoya.
After the race, the Stewards heard from both drivers and team representatives, along with examining available video evidence along with onboard footage.
They determined that while both cars were fighting for position, Car 11 was ahead of Car 22 at the apex and therefore had the right to the corner.
They also found that the contact between the drivers had no single driver predominantly or wholly to blame, but Car 22 left the track at Turn 1 and rejoined ahead of Car 11, gaining a lasting advantage by doing so, breaching Article 27.3 of the FIA Formula 2 Sporting Regulations.
As a result, they applied a five-second time penalty for the Van Amersfoort Racing driver. With the penalty applied, the Argentinian driver now finishes P12 in the final classification.
