Piastri’s Guest Column: We can be a pretty dominant force when we get it all together

Oscar Piastri took the Championship lead in Silverstone, with pole position and three top-six finishes, including his fifth podium of the season in the Feature Race.
The Australian takes control of this week’s guest column to pen his thoughts on the lap that secured him his first Formula 2 pole, a wet Sprint Race 2 and he looks ahead to the summer break.
__ONE GOOD POINT – TAKING MY FIRST POLE POSITION __
Getting pole was the best part of the weekend because starting from the front of the grid is always a nice feeling. It was a good lap that and it was a pretty satisfying feeling to be the quickest.
__ONE BAD POINT – AN EARLY ALARM ON THE SATURDAY __
The Feature Race wasn't a bad point, but it was maybe a bit sub-par in comparison. More than anything, I would say that it was the 5am alarm for Saturday – that wasn't a particularly pleasant experience. Overall, there wasn't really a major bad point though.

WHAT I LEARNED – WHAT WE ARE CAPABLE OF
I wouldn’t say we learned anything in particular, it was more that I consolidated what I already thought we were capable of from the beginning. I put everything together, minus the Feature Race, slightly. I guess I learned that we can be a pretty dominant force when we put it all together.
__FANS MAY HAVE MISSED – A WET SPRINT RACE 2 __
My drinks kit was leaking a lot during Sprint Race 2, so I kind of got soaked in the first few laps, which wasn’t ideal.

__PLANS FOR THE SUMMER BREAK __
I am going on a holiday with my girlfriend for a week or so, and then I am sure that I will be at Alpine quite often. There are a few sim days planned, which are always fun.
