Round 10 Post Sprint Race Press Conference

FIA Formula 2: Welcome everyone to today's FIA Formula 2 press conference following the Sprint Race at Monza. Joining us are third-placed Oliver Goethe of MP Motorsport, second-placed John Bennett of TRIDENT, and race winner Joshua Duerksen of Invicta Racing. Joshua, congratulations. How does that win feel?

Joshua Duerksen: It was an amazing race. Winning at Monza is always special. The car was very strong, I made a good start and that helped me move forward early. The pace was good throughout and I am very happy we were able to bring home the victory.

FIA Formula 2: The car looked very well set up. How does that prepare you for the Feature Race?

Duerksen: We gathered a lot of useful data. We learned about the car in traffic and in clean air, and we now have a very good picture of what we need for tomorrow.

FIA Formula 2: What are your thoughts on the new 2027 FIA Formula 2 car unveiled today?

Duerksen: I really like it. The front and rear wings look much closer to Formula 1 and I am curious to see how it races next year.

FIA Formula 2: John, congratulations on P2, your second podium of the season. How was the race from your perspective?

John Bennett: We were targeting the win from pole position, but I am still satisfied with a podium. We built a gap at the front before the first Safety Car, but Joshua was simply too quick. The pace and tyre management were strong, so another podium is a good feeling.

FIA Formula 2: How much tyre management was required?

Bennett: Monza requires less tyre saving than many circuits. We were pushing fairly hard, particularly in clean air, but still trying to look after the rear tyres.

FIA Formula 2: Your thoughts on the new 2027 car?

Bennett: It looks fantastic. Visually it is much more in line with Formula 1 today.

FIA Formula 2: Ollie, starting from the front row, you seemed to spend much of the race attacking and defending. How challenging was that?

Oliver Goethe: It was a difficult race. I put myself in a few bad positions and lost places, so it was not ideal. Even so, I recovered to third and another podium, which I am happy with.

FIA Formula 2: What do you think of the 2027 car?

Goethe: I agree with the others. It looks cool and much more like Formula 1.
