Following today’s FIA Formula 2 sprint race at the Sochi Autodrom, two drivers were penalised. First, Alessio Lorandi was found guilty of causing a collision with Nicholas Latifi at Turn 4 on the opening lap which led to both cars having to retire. As a consequence, the Trident driver received a 5 place grid drop for the next Feature Race which will be held at the Yas Marina Circuit on November 24th.
Furthermore, Niko Kari was also penalised after it was judged that he had exceeded the track limits during Lap 1 at Turn 2, thus gaining an advantage. As the MP Motorsport driver did not make any attempt to give back the three positions he had gained in the process he received a 3 place grid drop also for Abu Dhabi Feature Race.
Finally, 10 seconds were added to Arjun Maini’s elapsed time after it was decided that he had made contact with Lando Norris at Turn 18. As a result, the Carlin driver sustained a puncture in the rear right tyre and he had to retire from the race. After the time penalty was applied, the Trident driver still classified P15.
