Round 9 post-Qualifying Press Conference

__FIA Formula 2: Welcome everyone to today's FIA Formula 2 Press Conference following Qualifying here in Hungary. Joining us in P3 from Campos Racing, it's Noel León. In second place from Invicta Racing, it's Rafael Câmara and from ART Grand Prix, capturing his second pole position of the season, it's Kush Maini. Kush, congratulations, second pole of the season. How does that one feel? __

Kush Maini: It feels great. Coming from Spa I had a mistake from my side in Quali. It hurt the whole weekend. And coming here, it's a track I like, and I felt like I had to pay the team back. And I think we did that today. They gave me a great car. I'm glad to have stuck it on pole.

FIA Formula 2: You were just watching from the pit lane. Did you feel pretty confident that nobody was going to beat your time there at the end?

Maini: I knew that these two were the ones that were quick in the first run and they were the ones that went at the end. So I knew I had to wait and just wait until they finished. Then sector one, they both went way quicker. But fortunately, I think our car held on better through the lap. And so yeah, after sector one, I was like, 'oh, it's not looking great'. But then it held on and I was really happy.

FIA Formula 2: Looking ahead to the Feature Race on Sunday, it can be a challenging track to pass on. What will it take to come away with a victory here?

Maini: Well, I think it's F2 just anything can happen. I mean, in Monaco, I think I started like ninth and I finished fourth. In F2, you're going to have to have like a great day from all perspectives. From your side, the start itself, and then the first in, there's just a lot that goes into it. But full focus is on tomorrow. I think there's still something to be won. And obviously gathering the data for the Feature Race to set the car up in the best way.

FIA Formula 2: Congratulations on the pole, Rafa, coming to you. Again, qualifying in the top three. I mean, you've been consistently strong in qualifying. Can you take us through your lap?

Rafael Câmara: Yeah, overall, I think it was good quali. Already looking strong in the first run. After Kush went quicker I knew that it needed to have a good lap after. I think it was quite decent but just not enough today. And now we're just focusing on the races.

FIA Formula 2: How was the track conditions when you were out there?

Câmara: I think the track was pretty constant through the session. Obviously, you're going again, you have the fuel effects. Also, if the car is not there, you can do some changes. In your driving, you can adapt a bit. So normally you go quick in the second run. You're already expecting that, but it was nothing really track evolution or something like that.

FIA Formula 2: Congratulations on the P2. Noel, coming to you. Just over a tenth, separating yourself from pole position. Can you take me through your lap?

Noel León: Yes, to be honest, we started pretty strong. From the first lap, we were there fighting for pole. In the end, we got a bit of traffic through sector two and a small mistake from our side in sector three. Didn't do enough for pole, but we tried. Kush and Rafa did a good job. So yeah, happy to be P3 now.

FIA Formula 2: And looking ahead to starting at P3 for Sunday, what do you think is possible from there?

León: As Kush said it's Formula 2. You can make a lot of opportunities for yourself with a pit stop, with the start. So yeah, I think everything can happen.
