Van Amersfoort Racing confirms Ricco Shlaimoun as Reserve Driver for 2026

Ricco Shlaimoun has joined Van Amersfoort Racing as the team’s 2026 Reserve Driver.
The American will join the team across race weekends and help with preparations, including participating in the team’s simulator and debrief sessions with their main driver lineup: Nico Varrone and Rafael Villagómez.
Shlaimoun most recently competed in the GT America series, earning two podium finishes. Prior to that, he raced in the Formula Regional Americas Championship in 2024, having raced in Formula 4 and Regional categories previously.
Speaking about his joining VAR for 2026, Shlaimoun said he was excited at the prospect and thankful for the opportunity.
“I’m really excited to be joining Van Amersfoort Racing as reserve driver for the 2026 season. Being part of the team across race weekends and preparation sessions is a great opportunity to keep learning and developing in such a competitive environment. I’m looking forward to working closely with everyone and making the most of the experience throughout the year.”
Van Amersfoort Racing Team Principal Brad Joyce added: “We’re pleased to welcome Ricco to the team in this role. Having a reserve driver is something well established in Formula 1, and we see real value in bringing that approach into our Formula 2 programme. Ricco will be fully immersed in our environment throughout the season while continuing his own development, and at the 2 same time adds depth to our driver line-up. We’re looking forward to working with him and supporting his progression.”
