Villagómez handed grid penalty for Miami races

Following the conclusion of FIA Formula 2 Practice in Miami, Rafael Villagómez has been handed a grid penalty.
The Van Amersfoort Racing driver was alleged to have made a yellow flag infringement during the opening session of the weekend.
After Practice, the Stewards heard from Villagómez and a team representative and determined that the driver of Car 23 failed to comply with the requirement to reduce speed under both single and double yellow flags, breaching Article 2.5.5 (b) of the FIA International Sporting Code.
They examined video and GPS evidence, with mini sector timing data revealing the VAR driver had achieved his fastest time in both mini sectors up to that point at Turns 11 and 12, with no indication he had attempted to slow or abandon the lap as required.
As a result, the Stewards elected to apply a 10-place grid penalty for both the Miami Sprint and Feature Race in accordance with Article 31.5 of the 2026 F2 Sporting Regulations.
