Nobuharu Matsushita

Nobuharu Matsushita returned to Formula 2 in 2019 after a year out with exactly one aim: to win.

Initial acclimatisation aside, he done just that. Three podiums and two wins justified the decision, with sixth place in the standings. Had he begun the season in the same form he finished it, he’d have been much higher.

Having finished outside of the points seven times in the opening 10 races, Matsushita got to grips with the machinery and finished inside of the points, or on the podium, in all bar one of the next 12 races.

Behind the scenes, his experience of the category will prove invaluable at MP Motorsport in 2020, alongside rookie Felipe Drugovich. Out on track, he will be hoping to pick up from where he left off.
