GEORGE RUSSELL

The fact that George Russell stood out in one of the most competitive seasons of junior Formula in recent memory says everything that you need to know about the Norfolk-born driver.

There was something rather majestic about the Briton’s dominating road to the title in 2018, but there was a much more working class nature to the performances. Russell is meticulously hardworking, faultlessly dedicated, and exceedingly talented. There’s a reason why he is so highly rated by Mercedes, whose belief in Russell was so great, that they had no other drivers on the Road to F1 ladder.

The ART racer opened the campaign by qualifying on the front-row at Bahrain, before grabbing his maiden victory in the second round at Baku. Facing stiff competition from now fellow F1 graduates Lando Norris and Alexander Albon, Russell fought his way relentlessly to the title, taking the crown in Abu Dhabi, with a record points total in F2.

The Mercedes protégé signed with ROKiT Williams Racing for his debut season in F1, where he impressed despite the team’s struggles in 2019, beating his experienced teammate Robert Kubica. He will need to prove himself all over again in 2020, when he is joined at Williams by fellow F2 graduate Nicholas Latifi.
