Christian Lundgaard begins 2020 with a foot up on his rookie rivals, thanks to a two-race stint at the backend of 2019 in F2 with Trident.
While the switch to 18-inch tyres will ultimately limit this benefit, he will still be better for the experience of firing Trident machinery around the Yas Marina circuit. The highly-rated Renault F1 junior is a title winner in the SMP and Spanish F4 Championships, and comes from a racing background, as the son of European Rally Champion Henrik Lundgaard.
He showed what he could do in 2019 with a race win in F3, helping to break up the dominance of PREMA Racing, and he’ll partner the Italian team’s second place driver, Marcus Armstrong, at ART Grand Prix in 2020.
