Luke Browning says that he is hopeful of a stronger showing in the Feature Race after a solid run to the points in P8.

Starting 10th on the grid by virtue of earning pole position on Friday, the Hitech TGR driver says his race was all about staying out of trouble, as others fell by the wayside in various incidents around and ahead of him.

Speaking afterwards, the Briton says he was happy enough with the result, noting that it would be important to work overnight having gained a greater understanding of the car and tyres in Monza.

“It went ok. Being honest, there was a lot of carnage in front caused by other people, and I just made the most of that. So, we didn't have the overall pace today, but I'm just gonna keep on working on what I can do.

“Honestly, I think I might have been the only one that was staying out of trouble. Everyone around me just seemed to crash and I was making the most of that. So, although we didn't have the pace today, we're gonna have it tomorrow. We've got a good direction and yeah, I'm looking forward to starting from pole tomorrow.”

Browning is hopeful of a strong result to cap off a strong weekend in which he and Hitech have looked competitive from start to finish.

Last season, he appeared to be on for a strong result as he contended for the Formula 3 Drivers’ Championship but contact on Sunday took him out of contention.

This time around, he is aiming to keep things clean and maximise his starting position on Sunday, with a clear view ahead of him on the grid and high hopes of overnight changes helping him tomorrow.

The Hitech driver added that a win is the obvious goal as he looks to put right what he feels was a missed opportunity last season.

“We've got very smart guys up there, and I'm sure it'll be a combination of the way I'm driving it and the way we set up the car that just didn't quite click today, so I'm sure we'll get it right tomorrow.

“It'd be nice to get a win, and I think here, it would be special, especially considering it didn't quite go our way last year here. So, I've got some redemption to go out and earn tomorrow.”
