Sprint Race podium finisher Jake Hughes has been disqualified from the results of the race, while Jack Doohan and Ralph Boschung have received penalties.

Hughes has been disqualified due to a technical non-conformity. The skid plank on his car was found to have a maximum thickness of 3.6mm, which does not meet the required thickness of 5mm +/-1mm.

The Van Amersfoort Racing driver had finished third to take his and his team’s first podium but loses the position and the points. This promotes MP Motorsport’s Felipe Drugovich to third in the final classification.

Boschung has been given a 20s-time penalty after it was found that he was in front of his starting grid position before the lights went out. The Swiss driver had finished in eighth place and with the penalty applied, he drops to 15th.

Following Hughes and Boschung’s penalties, Jehan Daruvala and Marino Sato are promoted to P7 and P8 respectively, and thus are allocated the final points available.

Finally, Doohan has received a three-place grid drop for Sunday’s Feature Race after making contact with Carlin’s Logan Sargeant at the end of the first Safety Car period in the Sprint Race.

During the restart, the back of the field were bunched up and forced to slow down as the race leader maintained his speed. Sargeant pulled to the left to avoid the cars in front and Doohan did the same, but there were no open gaps for the Virtuosi Racing driver to pull into and he almost unavoidably ran into the back of the Carlin.

The collision resulted in a second Safety Car period and the retirement of both drivers. The Stewards determined that Doohan was predominantly to blame for the collision. Doohan’s starting position will not change as he was already due to start the race from the back of the grid, having been disqualified from Qualifying.
