With his rookie Formula 2 season set to get busier over the upcoming rounds, Alexander Dunne is certainly one to keep an eye on, as the Rodin Motorsport driver looks to make a name for himself in the Championship.

Prior to the season resuming however, we sat down with him just to play a quick game of Would You Rather. Here is how it went…

Would You Rather be a famous singer or famous actor?

“A famous actor. I don't know why. I feel like if you do act, even if I weren’t a racing driver, actors could still do something within motorsport.”

Win your home race once or Monaco Grand Prix three times?

“Home race once for sure. The track that sponsors me is called Mondello Park, it's the biggest track we have at home. I don't know if we have the facilities to have a Formula 1 race at home, but if we did it would be really special.”

Win the Indy 500 or the 24 Hours of Le Mans?

“That's really hard. I think I am going to have to go for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I do a lot of endurance racing at home on the simulator, at quite a high level. I think endurance racing is really cool, so if there was a chance to do Le Mans and be competitive, that would be really cool.”

Win from Pole or win from last on the grid?

“Win from pole. I think it's nice to have a full domination, pole, fastest lap, driving away with the win, it's a nice feeling.”

Drive in a permanent circuit or a street track?

“I think it depends. I think I am going to go with street circuits. I like both, but we have tracks like Melbourne where it is a street circuit, but it also has the elements of a permanent circuits with the runoffs, so I think I like both, but I will go with street.”

Karaoke or dance off?

“Can I say neither? Karaoke because it's funnier. I don't have a go-to song, I've never done karaoke before.”

Would You Rather be front row at fashion week or at the Oscars?

“Fashion week. I wouldn't say I am into fashion, but I like clothes, and I like to dress well when I can, so fashion week.”

Would You Rather win the title with no wins or win many races but not win the title?

“That's a really hard one. I think it depends on the scenario. I think if you can win many races but you don't win the title because things happen outside of your control then I will go with many races.

“I think naturally moving forward, pace and racing well is something you need. I think winning the Championship without any wins, of course it's prestigious to win a Championship, but maybe you lack that last little bit of pace.

“But maybe if you have that pace in you and maybe consistency is something you miss, that's always something you can learn, and being truly quick is not something you can learn. So, I think I will go with winning many races and not winning the Championship.”

Too hot or too cold?

“I'm from Ireland, so too cold.”

Be an astronaut or a rockstar?

“Astronaut. I don't really know why I chose astronaut, but I think it seems really cool. You get to travel a lot, go to the moon. Astronaut seems really cool, so I'll go with that.”

Fly to space and discover a new planet, or go in a submarine and discover a new underwater kingdom?

“That's really hard. Fly to space and discover a new planet. I think underwater is maybe something you'd find, could be out of the ordinary but it's something on our planet. But I think it would be cool to see if there are other living things outside of earth.”

Eat with a spoon or a fork for the rest of your life?

“Fork. I always choose fork.”

Communicate telepathically or know every single language on the planet?

“I think I'd know every single language in the world. I think in our sport it would probably be very beneficial. I can speak a few words of Italian, but it doesn't go very far. Most of them are bad words.”

Drive with wet tyres in the dry or dry tyres in the wet?

“I think both are fun. Wet tyres in the dry are a lot of fun when you have deg, and the car gets a bit oversteery, it's a bit fun. But there is nothing like slicks in the rain, so I'll go dries in the wet.”

Train for a 100-metre Sprint or a Marathon?

“Marathon. I think anybody who does marathons and does them at a good level as well - it is extremely impressive, so I'd like to give it a try. I'm trying to get better at running. At the moment it's complete pain, but fitness-wise, it's very good, and for our sport being fit cardio-wise is very good. So, I am trying to get into it a bit more.”

Be chronically under-dressed or overdressed?

“Overdressed. I think it's always nice to look nice, and I think especially in our sport as well, nine times out of 10 you are probably going to be involved in something that is relatively fancy, so I'll go with overdressed.”
