As part of a regular column in the aftermath of each round, one of motorsport’s future stars will take you beyond the paddock and delve into their race weekend. One good point, one bad point and everything in between.

Luca Ghiotto is next up this season. The Italian takes you behind the scenes of Round 3, and explains why he was so pleased with his results in Budapest. The Hitech Grand Prix driver also discusses the hard work of his team behind the scenes, the wet weather, and looks ahead to the next round of the season at Silverstone, in Great Britain.

ONE GOOD POINT – A FIRST VICTORY OF 2020

Getting my first win of the season was the best point of the weekend. I needed it after a bad start to the season in the two opening rounds in Austria.

Plus, we got the win by the managing tyres well, which was an issue for us in first few races, so we worked well on that and it was good to see the improvement result in a win.

ONE BAD POINT – NARROWLY MISSING OUT ON POLE

It was frustrating to miss out on the pole position by one place in Qualifying on the Friday. We felt like we had the pace to do it on the Wet track in Budapest. Of course, it was still a good Qualy, but I really felt we could have made first on the day.

YOU MAY HAVE MISSED – THE TEAMS’ HARD WORK

It was quite an eventful weekend behind the scenes in Hungary. With the crazy weather that we experienced, the team were working really hard on the car to make sure that we always had it ready for the conditions that we were going to find on track.

NEXT TIME OUT - SILVERSTONE

I had a great weekend at Silverstone last year, taking second in Qualy and a win in the Feature Race.

I cannot wait to be back on a track which is one of my favourites. I really hope we can keep the good momentum going from Budapest and make it another successful round.
