There have already been numerous highs in the career of Robert Shwartzman, from joining the SMP and Ferrari driver programmes to winning multiple titles, but which moments were key?

1. MEMORIES WITH HIS FATHER

“The biggest and main one is the time I spent with my dad, who brought me into motorsport. Not many people know how I started my career, but it all began when I was four. I was super passionate about cars, as was my dad as well, and he gave me an opportunity to try karting and he saw that I had a talent and a big passion for it.

“I started practicing and it all went from there - I am so grateful to him for supporting me. He was helping me on a financial side as well and it would have been hard to have to done it without him. It has been a really long journey through karting and junior formula - one day I will go through it year-by-year for you – and there have been a lot of happy memories during these times.”

2. SIGNING WITH SMP

“Signing with SMP in 2014 helped me a lot – it was a big step up. SMP run a programme that helps to develop Russian drivers and I have become quite friendly with the members of SMP racing and they’ve pushed really hard to help me get to this level.

“I am really glad that I was able to join SMP and am very thankful to them. I have a huge respect for my boss there, not just because he saw potential in me, but because he loves motorsport and cars as much as I do and as much as my dad did, which is important to me.”

3. JOINING THE FERRARI FAMILY

“Joining Ferrari was really good, and they have helped me so much in every way. From the mental and physical training that they provide to the time I have spent on the simulator.”

4. WINNING THE FORMULA 3 TITLE

“Winning the Formula 3 title in 2019 has to be one of the moments. Winning that championship is one of the biggest achievements in my career at the moment.”
