Would You Rather with Roy Nissany
Kicking back and relaxing during the break before the season finale in Abu Dhabi next month, Roy Nissany was as cool as a cucumber when he became the latest member of the 2023 grid to be put on the spot in Would You Rather.
The PHM Racing by Charouz driver gives his take on staying fit, how being early is actually being on time and enjoying life as a karaoke king.
WEIGHTS OR CARDIO?
“Weights by far, I started to be addicted to the strength. Also, I find it healthier for me. Over the years, I realised that cardio for motorsport is very, very specific. So, if you go out and run or cycle, it will have a sort of effect and a sort of benefit, but I would never find it as good as properly driving a car with high performance or a shifter kart. That would be a very strong indication for me of my stamina in motorsport.”
HOME OR MONACO GP VICTORY?
“Monaco sounds good. Until there is an Israeli Grand Prix, Monaco is my choice.”
UNDERSTEER OR OVERSTEER?
“Oversteer really, it’s much more fun. It’s not necessarily quicker, but it’s more fun.”
GIVE UP YOUR FAVOURITE MEAL FOR LIFE OR EAT IT EVERYDAY FOR A YEAR?
“Give it up, have some diversity! My favourite meal changes all the time. Since I love cooking so much, it’s hard to choose one. Currently, it would be a wagyu steak – now I want this for dinner.”
HANDS FOR FEET OR FEET FOR HANDS?
“Hands for feet, it’s more practical and cooler, not as goofy.”
FIRST TO ARRIVE OR LAST TO ARRIVE?
“The first always. On time is late, so a bit earlier is better.”
TOO HOT OR TOO COLD?
“Too hot, I’m a warm-blooded guy. Always choose the heat. It’s easy to keep cool outside the car, I even do an ice bath to keep the balance.”
RACE SUIT THAT’S TOO BIG OR TOO SMALL?
“Too big is probably better for both comfort and fashion. I’ve had everything – suits being too big, too small, squeezing too much in the sensitive areas.”
ROCK OR HIP HOP?
“These are two of my least favourite genres. I’d go with the chill party, kind of lounge music, very relaxing vibes.”
KARAOKE OR DANCE OFF?
“Wow, both! Karaoke, I’m a karaoke king. I like All of Me by John Legend and I also play it on the piano, so then it’s the only song I can play and sing at the same time.”
WIN THE INDY 500 OR THE 24 HOURS OF LE MANS?
“24 Hours of Le Mans. I was never a big fan of US motorsport and I drove for DAMS for two years and they had their base in Le Mans. So, after driving on that straight every morning many, many times during those two years makes you want to win the race, I’ll tell you that.”
TELEPORTATION OR ABILITY TO READ PEOPLE’S MINDS?
“Read people’s minds. I have a driver’s licence and a nice car, so I love the transport phase of life.”
OPTION PRIME OR PRIME OPTION?
“Ah, the question of life, the one question that Shakespeare forgot to ask before he died! Blindly, I would like to go for prime option because I like finishing on a high with a good tyre, but if we get technical then it’s very track dependent.”

“Looking at them both right now with all the love, maybe my teammate’s one would be less smelly.”

“Dive down the inside. A divebomb, as long as it’s legal and there’s no contact.”
WIN FROM POLE OR LAST?
“If you can guarantee the win, then win from last and have fun while you’re at it. Then I get to do both (win and late-braking dives).
