While there’s been an abundance of bold passes throughout the 2022 FIA Formula 2 campaign, there could only be one winner of the Dallara Award for the Best Overtaking Manoeuvre at the F2 Prize Giving Ceremony - Théo Pourchaire.

Making waves around the Baku City Circuit, the ART Grand Prix driver remained undeterred and unfazed at a track that is known to punish even the slightest of mistakes.

With his eyes solely focused on the task ahead during the Sprint Race, the Frenchman had already made several steps up the order before coming across Jake Hughes and Dennis Hauger.

In a heart-stopping moment on Lap 10, Pourchaire instantly dispatched both drivers, daring to dive up the inside of the Van Amersfoort Racing and PREMA Racing cars into Turn 3. This move was key in his quest to finish well inside the points in P7, having started in P12.

“It was a pretty nice move. Baku was a tough weekend,” Pourchaire explained. “I struggled a lot with the pace and in that race I just wanted to try something and give my best. There was an opportunity in front of me, I had the DRS and I was confident in the car at that time.

“I just went for it, and it was a nice move. I’ve had a few good moves this year and great racing, that’s the reason F2 is such a great Championship.”
