Interview
It has been a self-admittedly tough few weekends for Hitech TGR driver Luke Browning, but the Briton was pleased to take valuable points on Sunday in Spielberg.
Browning had led the Drivers’ Championship a few rounds ago, but a difficult weekend in Barcelona and another tough Qualifying at the Red Bull Ring have dented his charge in recent weeks.
However, he was not deterred on Sunday, and he fought hard to battle through the pack to secure sixth place in the Spielberg Feature Race, later promoted to fifth after Alexander Dunne's disqualification.
Speaking afterwards, he explained how the recent results have only fuelled him and Hitech going into the second half of 2025.
“Being honest, these last two weekends have been tough, big learning curves,” the Williams Development Driver said. “I think it’s come at just the right time to put us in a good place for the rest of the year.
“We’re working hard and we’re ready to bounce back now going into the rest of the European season.
“I feel in a good place, the guys did a great job in the race, and we’re working together and will try our best.”
While he was happy to have made it back into the points after starting from 17th on the grid, he says that having to push early on might have taken away an even stronger result.
Forced to battle with rivals in the early laps of the first stint, Browning took a bit more out of his tyres than he’d have liked, leaving him struggling towards the pitstops.
We were flying in the races, it’s just a shame that it didn’t quite come together in Qualifying.
Despite no strategic openings via a Safety Car, the Hitech driver says the team showed impressive speed to come through the pack anyway.
“It was very intense. With the nature of our race – I had to overtake 11 cars today. It wasn’t easy, I had to push on my tyres early on and maybe suffered a little bit for that at the end.

“But still, it was a great job from the team, and we were fast. So happy overall. It’s not easy. There were no Safety Cars today and that meant the strategy was no different to a normal race.
“We had to do it all on pace today. In the Sprint, I think we made six places on lap one, and today I think we made up similar. We were flying in the races, it’s just a shame that it didn’t quite come together in Qualifying.”
Browning and Hitech now gear up for their home event at Silverstone, a weekend that should suit them according to the driver himself.
After missing out on a possible victory last year in a chaotic Feature Race, he is aiming for both to bounce back from his recent results, and make amends for what he sees as a win that got away in 2024.
“We’re going to go into Silverstone and aiming to stick it on pole. Ready to bounce back. It’s escaped us a few times.
“We’ve always been the fastest at Silverstone, yet it’s not awarded us with points. This year, we’re going to be the fastest and win the race, we’ll try our best to anyway.”
