It was a weekend that had great promise to Campos Racing and Arvid Lindblad. The team had starred in 2024 and looked set to repeat based on their early speed, but things didn’t go their way.
Lindblad looks back on a positive but ultimately frustrating weekend that resulted in important points for him and his team, but could have been even stronger.
“Overall I’m quite happy. I think it was a positive weekend. From the beginning, we were really on it, showing very strong pace in FP and Qualifying and we were right in the fight for pole. I think we were P3 or around there after the end of run one.
“We had some things we fixed for run two, and then I did a really good lap. Unfortunately, we missed the line by eight-tenths with the Red Flag, which would have put us on pole by over two-tenths. “It was a shame about that and then with the session not being resumed. We were quite unfortunate there. Anyway, Friday was very positive with really strong pace all throughout.”
“In the Sprint, we had good speed. I got a good start to go up to P3 and then overtook Ritomo halfway through. Then I was closing in on Jak at the end. I think with a few more laps, we might have been able to fight for the victory.”
“For the Feature, again we had really good speed. I was P3 in the first stint, but then we had a bit of a slow stop and then we got unlucky with that. That meant we got stuck behind and I couldn’t get released, so I lost a lot of positions in the pitstop.
“Instead of attacking for the lead of the race, we ended up dropping down to P4. Then the Safety Car came out and it bunched the field up and it was a big DRS train and hard to go forward.
“So, it was a bit of a shame in the Feature Race. I’m a bit gutted because I feel that we had the pace to win, and part of me saw early on that a win was on the cards. So to not even be on the podium, it is a shame.”
“The speed is really good at the moment. We’re getting stronger every weekend and I’m very grateful to the team for the job they’re doing. We’ve got some stuff to work on together, some things on my side, some things on theirs.
“But, I’m happy with the steps being made and I’m looking forward to the next two rounds that we have coming up.”
