Arvid Lindblad got Campos Racing’s home race weekend off to a good start by ending up with the fastest time in Barcelona Free Practice.

The Briton’s 1:27.147 was the quickest lap of the 45-minute session, with Alexander Dunne over two-tenths back in second, as PREMA Racing’s Gabriele Minì rounded out the top three.

After choosing to wait in the pit lane in the early stages of Practice before hitting the track, the drivers set off on their first push laps of the day, with MP Motorsport’s Richard Verschoor going fastest on a 1:28.044.

However, that time was quickly beaten by Dunne, who went top on a 1:27.425, as Minì jumped up to P2, 0.429s behind his Rodin Motorsport rival.

Minì improved on his next lap but still wound up 0.372s off Dunne’s benchmark time.

But as the majority of the field returned to the pit lane, Campos sent both of their drivers out for the first time. Lindblad then used the empty track to complete a 1:27.147 to go to P1, while Josep María Martí wound up in P14.

The drivers continued to log the laps in Barcelona, but with the tyres degrading quickly, there were no further improvements.

This left Lindblad on top ahead of Dunne and Minì, with Verschoor fourth in front of DAMS Lucas Oil’s Kush Maini. Ritomo Miyata was the lead ART Grand Prix driver in sixth ahead of his teammate Victor Martins in seventh.

Invicta Racing’s Leonardo Fornaroli wound up in P8, ahead of Hitech TGR’s Dino Beganovic, with Oliver Goethe rounding out the top 10 for MP.

The drivers will be back out on track at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya later today for Qualifying at 15:55 local time.
