They are the longest-tenured teammates in Formula 2 so Jehan Daruvala and Dennis Hauger should know one another pretty well by now.

We put the MP Motorsport teammates to the test, diving deep into what they’ve learned about each other across the two seasons they’ve spent as teammates.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR TEAMMATE?

Jehan Daruvala: “Makes me feel a bit old. He’s younger than me so, yeah it’s pretty funny. We’ve been together as teammates and get along pretty well, so far at least. It’s always fun.”

Dennis Hauger: “Relaxed. We’ve been together two years now and we’ve got to know each other a bit. He likes a lot of spicy food.”

Daruvala: “He loses kilos or more every week in the races and I lose nothing.”

Hauger: “That’s because he’s from India and I’m from Norway, it’s a bit warmer for me.”

WHAT’S YOUR TEAMMATE’S BEST QUALITY?

Hauger: “He’s able to eat spicy food. No, you’re good at looking at every aspect before the races. You can chat about stuff for two hours in the debrief. Sleeping too.”

Daruvala: “Tyre management.”

IF YOUR TEAMMATE WASN’T A RACING DRIVER, WHAT WOULD THEY DO AS A JOB?

Daruvala: “He’d probably be a marathon runner.”

Hauger: “Me?! I’d say if you weren’t a driver you’d be in business or studying business.”

Daruvala: “Probably my father’s company. You like a lot of winter sports, alpine skiing or something like that.”

WHAT’S THEIR MOST ANNOYING HABIT?

Daruvala: “You always copy my setups in the sim and go faster than me.”

Hauger: “He’s always trying to do secret setups.”

WHO’S THE FUNNIEST?

Hauger: “I guess we’re quite similar.”

MOST EMBARASSING THING YOU’VE DONE WHILST BEING TEAMMATES?

Daruvala: “There were a couple last year.”

Hauger: “I don’t really have anything that comes to mind.”

Daruvala: “We’ve done some embarrassing things.”

Hauger: “Some things should not be spoken about.”

IF YOU HAD TO COOK A MEAL FOR THE OTHER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Daruvala: “Norwegian salmon.”

Hauger: “Pasta arrabbiata.”

Daruvala: “I ate arrabbiata all year last year. Just the easiest thing to eat.”

WHO’S THE BETTER LOOKING?

Daruvala: “We have different styles.”

Hauger: “In India, he’d probably be the better looking one. In Norway, maybe me. It depends on the style, but it’s a question for the ladies.”

WHO KNOWS THE MOST ABOUT CARS?

Daruvala: “I don’t know much so maybe you. I know about new cars, but I don’t know anything about older ones.”

Hauger: “Maybe me because before when I was a kid, I was spending a lot of time in the garage with my dad, but other than that, we’re probably pretty similar. We like to drive them more.”

WHO’S ON THEIR PHONE THE MOST AND WHO TAKES THE LONGEST TO REPLY TO MESSAGES?

Daruvala: “You’re on your phone more than me I would say on a race week.”

Hauger: “On a race week?! No way. Really?”

Daruvala: “I mean I’m on my phone at night quite a bit, on Instagram. But in the day, not so much. He doesn’t reply to texts.”

Hauger: “No, that I’m actually bad at.”

WHAT’S THE BIGGEST THING YOU’VE LEARNED FROM EACH OTHER?

Daruvala: “I think we’ve been pretty close the last two years even though one of you are going to be a little bit higher up in terms of performance, with it being close, we’re learning from each other. This year especially with my tyre management stuff, I’m still learning. We’re still pushing each other on the sim as well all the time.”

Hauger: “Obviously last year was my first season so definitely some things to learn. It’s just experiences and a bit here and there that we try to take from each other. When you’re fighting with each other but also pushing each other, it’s a give and take thing.”

WHAT’S SOMETHING YOU’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO TELL YOUR TEAMMATE BUT HAVEN’T GOT AROUND TO?

Daruvala: “I keep asking him what he’s going to do next year but he doesn’t answer me.”

Hauger: “I ask him what he’s going to do next year but he won’t tell me.”

WHO SPENDS THE MOST TIME IN THE GYM AND WHO IS ON THE SIM THE MOST?

Daruvala: “Gym? Probably Dennis.”

Hauger: “I guess. Did you train this weekend?”

Daruvala: “This weekend mate, no. With the sim, I have one at home but I don’t use it much any more.”

Hauger: “Let’s say me then for both.”

WHO WOULD WIN IN AN ARM WRESTLING MATCH?

Daruvala: “Me.”

Hauger: “Really?”

Daruvala: “Definitely, I’m much stronger than you.”

Hauger: “Ok then let’s go.”

Daruvala: “Let’s just try it out, nah I’d have you.”
