The Drivers’ Title may be decided, but the Teams’ Championship is still up in the air, with Invicta Racing leading Hitech TGR by 35 points, while Campos Racing have an outside chance of claiming the top prize.

Before the start of the final round in Yas Marina, three key team members spoke on how each of their squads are feeling heading into the weekend.

FIRST PLACE: INVICTA RACING (296 points) – Team Principal James Robinson

“Obviously, we come here in a three-way battle for the Teams' Championship. We are obviously in the best position of those teams, but we certainly don't take anything for granted. We know a rogue Safety Car or a bad qualifying session can swing things the other way.

“We've had two races this year where we have scored 49 points, and it would only take Hitech to do that, and for us to have a bad weekend and we end up losing the Championship.

“It would mean a lot to the team if we were able to get the Teams' Championship secured. Obviously, it’s great that we got the Drivers' Championship last weekend in Qatar, but the Teams’ means just as much if not more to the mechanics and engineers, because it's a great reflection on the work they do, the hard work they put it, it's a great galvaniser for the team.

“Also, it would be a great reflection for Roman's side of the garage as well. They have had a really good year, obviously not scored quite as many points as they would have liked too, but I think the work they have done and the speed that whole car has shown has been good. But the points that they have scored and their contribution to the team more widely, this would be a great way to show it.

“One of the things about Leo, who has been wonderful to work with this year, is what a great team player he is. What a kind and considerate human being he is as well. I am yet to encounter a person I like as much as Leo. He is a really special human being, not just a very good racing driver.

“That is a huge credit to him and also the team culture and the team spirit that we have created. There is a real pack mentality here, and we are quite tribal, and Leo is part of our tribe, and he sees us as part of his tribe.

“He wants to win the Teams' Championship almost as much as he wants to win the Drivers' and vice versa. We all celebrate each other’s success. It's a great reflection on the culture in the team.”

SECOND PLACE: HITECH TGR (261 points) – Team Manager Clive Hatton

“We are feeling pretty good. It's one of those things that at every round you try to put the best car down, and try to get the most number of points. So it's not fully on the forefront of our minds, it's in the background, so we will see what happens on track.

“You can see the momentum has been up there for us. It was just tricky in that Feature Race in Qatar, the pace was there and the pace was good and then that Safety Car came out at the wrong time. A couple of laps later and it would have been perfect, but that's F2, it's a roll of the dice sometimes.

“Paul Aron got on well here last year, and as well both these drivers have driven here before for different teams and also with us at the post-season testing. But everyone is in that same position as well, so I reckon lap times will be tight.

“The drivers feel good. For Luke, obviously with Fornaroli now Champion, second is up for grabs for him and for Dino it's to get every point we can.

“It would be great for us to win it. Us as Hitech we started F2 in 2019, we have always kind of been up there but to win it, it would show everyone's hard work has paid off.”

THIRD PLACE: CAMPOS RACING (239 points) – Team Principal Adrián Campos Jr.

“For us, it's not on our mind to fight for the title this weekend. It's something that we know is extremely difficult and we saw how Invicta and Leo have performed in the last few races. For us it would be great to try to achieve again the second position in the championship.

“But also staying in the top three two years in a row, I'd be happy. Overall, with how the season has gone and all the bad luck we have had at some point, still being in the top three in the Teams' Standings, it's quite good. This year that we are doing has been getting better and better, so let's see where we finish.

“I haven't thought about it, as I said, it is extremely difficult, but it would be amazing to win both F3 and F2 in the same year. It's something we could not imagine at the beginning of the year, not even five years ago. It would be extremely good, but it would be difficult.”
