We hand the reigns over to Pedro Piquet who crafts a brand-new addition to the FIA Formula 2 calendar. Choosing everything from the country, to the celebrity that he would invite, the Charouz Racing System driver creates a new race weekend.

Piquet’s day race includes some stunning ocean views, a couple of iconic corners, and of course, an awesome choice of celebrity.

WHERE WOULD THE RACE BE HELD?

“I would have the race in Brazil for sure, somewhere that is close to the sea. I know that we have Interlagos already on the Formula 1 calendar, but if we could have a venue with a circuit next to the ocean, which also hosts F2, that would be really cool.

“Let's go with Rio de Janeiro because the fans there are really passionate. They had a race there for a long time in the 80s, and although the track is no longer there, it was a big part of the Brazilian culture. The fans in Rio love racing, they love to party and they miss having a race in that part of the country a lot.”

HOW WOULD THE TRACK BE LAID OUT?

“A big circuit that is really wide with long straights. Street circuits are nice, but I think that for a street circuit to work, it needs to be in a place like Monaco.

“Pouhon from Spa would need to be a part of the track, as well as a high-speed corner, such as Copse. You always need to have some hard-breaking points as well for overtaking, so I would include Turn 1 from Monza.”

DAY OR NIGHT RACE?

“So that you can get a proper view of the ocean, it would need to be during the day.”

WET OR DRY?

“I would prefer a dry race. For people watching, a wet track that is drying is probably the most exciting, bur I prefer to race in the dry as you have more control.”

WHICH CELEBRITY WOULD ATTEND THE EVENT?

“Michael Jordan. I am a really big basketball fan and would say that’s my second sport. I’m not very good at basketball, but I enjoy watching it. Michael Jordan is one of my sporting idols and it would be great to have him there.”
