Leonardo Fornaroli takes us through his helmet design and how it’s evolved over the years. The Invicta Racing driver goes into detail about the elements that have changed for 2025, and the parts that will always remain the same.
Here is how a design from his father has evolved to become a signature look of his own.
“Compared to last year’s helmet, we decided to add some colour because in last year’s design, we had red in the middle, and on the back, we had blue. This year, looking at how the car is designed in terms of the livery, we’ve added some dark blue here and bright yellow here.
“I was a little bit worried looking at the design on the computer, on the screen I thought last year’s looked better, but this year is better and is my favourite. The blue looks very, very nice in person.
“I always keep more or less the same colours throughout the years on my helmets. From 2022 when I was in Regional, we added the black carbon which looks very nice. Before I had yellow, red and some silver, but we added black carbon, and I’ve kept it ever since.
“On the back, we have a tiger which is the logo of my father’s company. On the top, we have the logo of my hometown. I’ve always had it since my very first helmet.
“The very first helmet I had was very similar to the one my dad had, which is the one I based my Imola design around. Lots of yellow, lots of silver, no black and it was yellow, orange and it was very nice. We didn’t change too much from that either, but we’ve only added a few changes over the years.

“The painter is the same as the one my dad had, MBKLine, and I’ve worked with them since I started racing as well. The process usually goes, we look at the car for the season, like the ones I had with TRIDENT in F3, it’s very different to the Invicta car this year.
“We talked a bit about the details, and they come up with the design and ask if I like it, then we change bits and go from there.
“The first design they came up with last year was the one I had in Monaco this year. It was fully yellow, but I wanted something a bit more colourful for the full season. So we put the red and blue back in there but darkened the blue.
“I’ve been with Schuberth since I moved up to F3. They’re very, very nice, I love everything about the helmets, and I hope I continue with them for a long time.
“I think the middle part of the helmet is my favourite, dark blue into the red that contrasts with the glitter and yellow. The way it looks together – I really like it. And the two Italian flags, of course!”
