ART Grands Prix's Victor Martins is back for a second season in FIA Formula 2, but we caught up with him at the end of his first year to ask him some tough questions in another edition of Would you Rather.

Here, we put the Frenchman's decision-making skills to the test.

WEIGHTS OR CARDIO?

“When it’s a race and you are in the car it can get quite intense, like physically, mentally and I think when you have a good cardio you can keep good lucidity in the car to decide exactly what you want, focus on the details of your driving, your references on the track, and also get a nice feeling with the tyres and do everything that you need to do perfectly. I mean the weights I would say your muscle is quite important but if I have a good base, I would say I am more focused to work on cardio, to keep the lowest heart rate possible in the race, to have a nice focus on the important things.”

HOME OR MONACO GRAND PRIX WIN?

“Win my home race. If I had one, unfortunately, I don't have one, so it’s difficult to say why I chose this one but I will say home race because I have experienced Paul Ricard in 2021, the French Grand Prix in Formula 3 and honestly it was the best weekend of my life, in terms of getting the support from the French fans, from the people coming to the track, the people seeing me, they were just supporting me and giving me so much power and confidence in myself that I think you just enjoy the weekend.

"There are only positive things coming to you, and it can be so powerful during your weekend, so, I would choose the home race. Monaco is special also. Honestly, it's a place where you want to shine and it’s like you want to use these opportunities, so you just want to try and put everything together and you give your full best, to get the result you want. But your home race is special."

UNDERSTEER OR OVERSTEER?

“Oversteer, hundred percent. Oversteer because when the car turns, and you have control of the car. If you want to put it on the apex, if you want to rotate the car, if you have oversteer you can do it, you just need to manage the rear axle and the aggressiveness of the car itself, and I prefer that hundred percent because understeer you are just like a passenger, waiting till the car is rotating and oversteer it’s more active and you are controlling and feeling the car.”

GIVE UP YOUR FAVOURITE MEAL FOR A YEAR OR EAT IT EVERY DAY FOR ONE YEAR?

“I think remove it. Eating it till the end of the year can be a bit long. I love to experience new things so I would rather remove my favourite meal and just discover some different type of cuisines around the world, choosing my favourite one and eating it for all my life.”

HANDS FOR FEET OR FEET FOR HANDS?

“That's a difficult question, honestly. I will say hands where my feet are because I used to do gymnastics and I'm used to doing handstands, so I know how nice it can get when you have your hands on the floor, and I think you have more possibilities. I see it as easier to do things if my hands in place of my feet. I don't know. I'm just answering this, but I don't know in the end.”

FIRST TO ARRIVE OR LAST TO ARRIVE?

“Last to arrive, and last to leave also. I'm also right on time, I struggle a lot to arrive before the time I'm supposed to arrive because I always find things to do before I leave. I am always more the last to arrive than the first."

TOO HOT OR TOO COLD?

“Too cold. A hundred percent. Too hot is not possible. Too hot you cannot do anything, too cold you can put sweaters on, you can put a jacket, you can do things, you don't sweat, you smell good. If you're too hot you smell bad, you can sweat, there is no solution.”

RACE SUIT THAT’S TOO BIG OR TOO SMALL?

“Difficult to say. I think I will choose too tight because too big can be also a bit useless and not comfortable and I know from my career I always preferred a bit tighter than a bit bigger.”

ROCK OR HIP HOP?

“Hip Hop music. Why? I don't know.”

KARAOKE OR DANCE OFF?

“Karaoke is better. Some old French song. It's quite nice, quite funny, you can do it with friends. It can be nice for one to share with family and friends to sing.”

WIN THE INDY 500 OR THE 24 HOURS OF LE MANS?

“24 Hours of Le Mans. Why? I don't know. I think both of them. But if I had to choose... 24 Hours of Le Mans is really historical. I know some ex-Formula 1 drivers have been winning this one for a lot of time, and Le Mans is quite nice, historical, so just simply 24 Hours of Le Mans. But first Formula 1. If I can win in Formula 1 first, then I will go to Le Mans.”

TELEPORTATION OR ABILITY TO READ PEOPLE’S MINDS?

“Read people's minds. I think it will be more powerful than teleporting. I think reading people's mind. You know I think there is a lot of things we don't know in the background about people. If they feel well, if they feel unwell, if they feel confident, if they don’t feel confident, if they are happy, if they are sad. There are a lot of things that we don’t see on someone’s face, and I think it can be useful, it can be powerful, it can be everything reading the mind of someone."

OPTION PRIME OR PRIME OPTION?

“I think I will say prime option because I almost never did it this year, so I want to know what it feels like. So, prime option. I have done too many option prime. When you start in front it’s kind of the strategy you need to go for to cover the risk of a Safety Car, of the other teams, so you are more at risk when you do a prime option, when you start in front than the opposite. Of course, it can be really powerful and really efficient, and it can work, I did in Barcelona, and I came back to P3, but I will choose as a funny one, prime option because I almost never did it and I want to experience it.”

SHOEY OUT OF YOUR TEAMMATE’S SHOE OR YOUR BOSS’ SHOE?

“I have my team boss in front of me. I don't know. It's a difficult one. I will say Théo's one. I don't know why but I think Théo's one.”

LATE-BRAKING DIVE DOWN THE INSIDE OR SWEEP ALL THE WAY AROUND THE OUTSIDE?

“Go around the outside is more fun, more risk. Go around the outside its always feels special and nice to do it.”

WIN FROM POLE OR LAST?

“Win from pole because then it means that you did pole position and win so it kind of checks the two boxes. You kind of validated the two things of your weekend, getting pole position and the race win, so I would say winning from pole.”
