Formula 2's 10th Season: Oliver Bearman on his favourite win and most memorable moments

We continue to celebrate 10 seasons of Formula 2 and that means more interviews with some of our alumni who have made it to Formula 1.

Next up is Oliver Bearman – who won eight races across his two seasons in the championship – and he looks back on his time in the second tier and shares some advice for the next generation.

HOW DID F2 PREPARE YOU FOR F1?

“It helps you learn a lot of things about racing, particularly pit stops, the first category that you do pit stops, tyre degradation, it's quite high in F2.

"Also you're learning more about vehicle dynamics and car behaviours and these are all things that help you get to Formula 1.”

WHAT’S YOUR ADVICE FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF F2 DRIVERS?

“Enjoy it. It's a fun ride. It's the first-time racing around a lot of really cool tracks like Baku and Jeddah. These are all really incredible tracks… and keep pushing.”

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE WIN IN F2?

“Probably Monza, that was a nice weekend. Also, the last season I did in F2, the win in Qatar was a nice feeling, particularly after it was a very, very tough season, so to finish the year with a win was really nice.”

ANY OTHER MOMENTS THAT STANDOUT?

“My weekend in Baku was also very nice.”

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE OFF-TRACK MEMORY FROM YOUR TIME IN F2?

“The relationships I built with the engineers, with my team, but also the people that work in Formula 2, the media, they're really nice and still relationships that I hold to this day.”

WHAT’S IT LIKE COMPETING AGAINST F2 RIVALS NOW IN FORMULA 1?

“It's special to move up from Formula 2 and even from Formula 3 with them, so it's really, really nice, and it certainly makes it more special.”
