'We can't just wait and see': Gabriele Minì on his mindset and the title fight in 2026
With two rounds to go, Gabriele Minì says it's time to go on the attack in pursuit of the 2026 title

After Round 12 in Baku, Gabriele Minì admits he's facing an uphill battle in his pursuit of winning the 2026 FIA Formula 2 Drivers' Championship.
The MP Motorsport driver is fourth in the Standings ahead of the final two rounds of the season, 43 points adrift of leader Rafael Câmara.
However, at this stage of the year, the Italian says there's not much left to do other than go flat out in pursuit of big results and hope his rivals hit trouble.
"Well, I think the only thing we've got to do is try to do the best as possible," Minì assessed. "So ideally, we'll just try and be in the top three, try and be as far up the order as we can be.
"Then of course, the deficit is - in the end, the thing is that it doesn't only depend on us at this point. I have confidence that we can do better, and we can do well. But then what the others do is not in our control. So, we just have to do what we can do, as well as possible."
With a sizeable gap to make up in the Standings, the Alpine Academy talent says it's all about maximising every single opportunity from here on out.

He adds that he will have to make some himself with less to lose than his title rivals. He hopes that will come into play in Lusail and Yas Marina in order to pull off what would be a superb fightback.
"Of course, being at the front is really key. Starting from the front just makes everything easier. So it's a big focus. It would be nice to be defending the lead. It means that we would have more points than the others.

"But we are not in that position. The only thing we can do is to try and chase and try to gain as much as we can before the end of the championship.
"At the same time, it's a better situation to manage. It's a lot about attacking and trying to catch the leaders. We cannot stay where we are and just wait. I did seven or eight overtakes just myself in Madrid and in the whole race, I think there were maybe only two more. So, we have to try and do the same again."
