Leonardo Fornaroli stepped up to Formula 2 in 2025 as the reigning FIA Formula 3 champion, and made a strong start to his title-winning campaign with two podiums in the first two rounds.

Two more trips to the rostrum followed before a breakthrough victory at the Silverstone Sprint Race kickstarted his ascent towards the top of the Standings.

That victory on British soil was the start of four victories in the next four rounds – including a Feature Race win in Budapest and a triumph at home in the Monza Sprint.

The Italian’s consistency – that had won him the F3 title the year earlier – was once again on full display in 2025 with Fornaroli scoring points in 23 of the 27 races competed.

This included the Lusail Feature Race where his second place finish meant he had done enough to win the title with a round to spare.

Before the final round at Yas Island, Fornaroli was confirmed to be joining McLaren's Development Driver Programme.

In 2026, Fornaroli will be serving as the team’s reserve driver.
